PWDs are a distinctive breed and I think you will find portie owners are passionate about their dogs and this breed. There are some great resources out there for PWDs including the Portuguese Water Dog Club of America. As a member of the PWDCA and a breeder in good standing on the breeder referral list, I highly recommend becoming a member of the PWDCA and getting involved in your local club. Through these clubs you can learn a great deal about the breed including training, health, activities, and meet some great people! If you aren't interested in being part of the PWDCA check out the resources on the website here. This is where you will find everything PWD plus have access to one issue of our PWD specific magazine called the Courier.
The Courier is the PWD magazine that covers PWDs throughout the country. There are great articles about the breed from things like temperament, health, training, breeding, and much more. As a member of the PWDCA you will receive each issue. Check out the issue below for some interesting tips on keeping your PWD mentally stimulated with games and puzzles plus other training tips.
As an active member of my local PWD club, Keystone PWDC, I highly recommend checking out and potentially joining your local club. You can find a list of PWDCA approved local clubs on their site below. Being involved with your local club is a great way to meet other passionate PWD owners that have a wealth of knowledge about the breed, various venues, breeders, etc.
